Oliveanotherday could be ready to announce himself as one of the more exciting sprinters of the spring, with trainer Tom Dabernig believing the lightly raced galloper has the potential to develop into a top-class horse.
The four-year-old continued his build-up with a pleasing 1000-metre jumpout at Caulfield Heath on Wednesday morning, where he travelled comfortably through his work alongside several other spring contenders. The official jumpout sheet had Oliveanotherday in a strong heat containing Treasurethe Moment, She’s A Hustler, Amenable, Belle Cheval, Point Barrow and Sass Appeal.

There has already been some early interest from Everest slot-holders, although Dabernig is keen to let Oliveanotherday prove himself at the races before looking too far ahead.
“I think potentially he could be top class,” Dabernig told Michael Felgate on The Verdict.
“But there’s no test like the racetrack and he’s got to keep taking those next steps.”
Oliveanotherday remains relatively lightly raced and Dabernig believes there is still plenty of improvement to come as he matures.
“Very happy,” Dabernig said of Wednesday’s work.
“He probably came back in his trial a little more switched on this time round.
“He’s a four-year-old, but he’s still relatively lightly raced.
“Today it was great to see him use that big action just on a nice surface.”
Oliveanotherday is set to resume in The Heath over 1100 metres at Caulfield, with Dabernig reluctant to lock in too much of his spring campaign before seeing how he returns.
The Bobby Lewis is among the potential options, while bigger sprint targets could come into calculations if he continues to progress.
Dabernig confirmed there had already been some inquiry from Everest slot-holders.
“Yeah, there’s been a little bit of interest,” he said.
“I’m sure that if he comes out and is impressive in his first couple of runs that there might be more of those discussions.
“If that’s on the table, then that might slightly alter where we place him.
“That would be a dream, but certainly it’s in the back of our mind.”
For now, the focus remains on establishing where Oliveanotherday sits among the better sprinters.
His profile, racing style and lightly raced nature give Dabernig confidence there may be significant upside still to come.
